Hello, my name is Dr. Sharaf Alsarafandi, a recent graduate in General Medicine from Alexandria University.

Before the escalation of the war in Gaza, I was completing my internship at Al-Shifa Hospital and living a stable, hopeful life with my family. However, since October 7th, our lives have been completely shattered by relentless violence, repeated displacement, and devastating personal loss.

• October 13th, 2023: My family and I were forcibly displaced from our home in Gaza City to southern Rafah after Israeli forces declared Gaza City a war zone. We left with nothing, unable to take our belongings.
• December 10th, 2023: We learned that our home had been destroyed in an airstrike, leaving us permanently without shelter.
• January 2024 – April 2024: We remained in Rafah for about seven months  until we were displaced again—this time to Khan Younis.
• January 2025: We managed to rent a small apartment for $500 per month. However, the high cost of living and scarcity of goods have made survival extremely difficult, as many essential items are either unavailable or sold at extremely high prices.

One of the most difficult situation we go through Three weeks ago, the entire city ran out of flour and food supplies. We are now facing actual starvation. Life in Gaza under these conditions is beyond what words can describe.

We have made many attempts to evacuate Gaza for safety, but all have failed. The most tragic was when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. We applied for medical transfer abroad, but she passed away before receiving any treatment. May God bless her soul.

Currently, I live with six family members, including my 19-month-old niece Wateen, who is at serious risk of malnutrition. I am volunteering at the Kuwaiti Field Hospital in Al-Mawasi, doing my best to help others despite limited resources and ongoing danger.We urgently need:Assistance with rent and basic household needsAccess to food, clean water, and hygiene productsSupport for a possible evacuation to ensure my family’s safetyLife in Gaza under these conditions is unimaginable. I am appealing for your support to help my family survive until we find a way to safety and freedom.
