My name is Ruba, and I am from Rafah in southern Gaza.
We were forced to flee our home due to the war, and we have been displaced in the central area of the Gaza Strip for two years now. Before the war, we lived a modest but stable life. Today, we have nothing left, our home was destroyed, and we lost all our belongings. Every day is a struggle for survival.
My younger brother Amir suffers from severe throat and tonsil infections. He has undergone multiple surgeries but remains in constant pain. His condition requires consistent medical treatment, healthy food, and a clean, stable environment, none of which are available to us under current conditions.
Our eldest brother, the only provider for our family, was killed during this devastating war. He was the one who carried the financial burden, the one who ensured we had food and medicine. With his death, we lost not just a brother but our only lifeline. Now we live in makeshift shelter. We are without income, without safety, and without access to basic necessities. We watch helplessly as Amir suffers, unable to afford his treatment or even his painkillers. We skip many meals to afford his medicine.
